The Inca Empire called Tahuantinsuyu, comprised a vast territory. It covered southern Colombia, Ecuador, the highlands of Bolivia and Peru, to northern Chile and northwestern Argentina.

The center of that Empire was located in the City of Cuzco, whose name meant “The Belly Button of the World.”

But the Incas also believed in the existence of another space that was not physical but magical. This space was divided into three territories:

Hanan Pacha: The higher world or also called the world above. In this world above was the world of ancestors called Ñaupa Pacha.

This world can only reach the souls of the righteous, who must first cross a bridge woven with hairs.

Kay Pacha: It was the visible world or world here. Plants, animals, men and spirits were part of this world.

Uku Pacha: It was the world below or underground world. It was reserved for the dead.
